Music in Hospitals and care

Bob Gessey is a professional guitar/vocalist who specializes in providing entertainment for the elderly and specifically those suffering from memory related issues. With some 17 years’ experience working in this field with the Alzheimer’s society at their ‘memory’ cafes’ and the registered charity ‘Music in Hospitals’ but also working privately for smaller care homes.

Using a massive catalogue of material, he engages with residents and staff to provide bespoke entertainment, intended to stimulate memories and cognitive functions.

The concert program includes:

A selection of Sing-longs (not necessarily War years) – Broadway and Film Show tunes, ‘The Rat pack crooners’ (Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Perry Como’ etc.). Country Music, together with Popular well known songs from the 1950’s onwards.  Concerts are always upbeat and requests taken where possible. There is also a thread of comedy and light-heartedness which offers something for everyone.

 Bob avoids backing tracks or anything that might act as a barrier between himself and the audience, relying on his fine voice and the minimal amplification of an acoustic guitar.

Bob is fully CRB checked to an enhanced standard, and his equipment pat tested. He has his own public liability insurance
